Bayer Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz has insisted Kai Havertz’s exit is not a certainty despite interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

Chelsea are reportedly in talks to sign Havertz, but have baulked at Leverkusen’s £90million asking price and only want to pay £75m for the attacking midfielder.

Havertz is thought to be keen on a switch to the Premier League, but after Leverkusen finished their 2019/20 campaign with a 1-0 win over Mainz, Bosz refused to say it was his star player’s final game for the club.

‘I don’t feel that he is thinking too much about transferring,’ Bosz said of Havertz.

‘Neither are we. I certainly don’t have the impression that this will be his last game for the club.

‘He is still under contract with us and I have to assume that he will be with us next season too.

‘That will include the German Cup final next month and the next Europa League game against Rangers in August.

‘Of course, that’s all dependent on nothing happening before then.’

Havertz, 21, has long been linked with a move to England, but the coronavirus pandemic is expected to limit clubs’ ability to spend big sums in the coming transfer window.

Frank Lampard has already signed Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech in big-money deals and the Chelsea boss insisted no offers had been made for Havertz.

He said: ‘He’s a top player but we’re certainly not going to comment on players at other teams.

‘It cannot be our focus. No bids have gone in.’

Leverkusen’s win over Mainz was not enough to secure a Champions League spot as Borussia Monchengladbach pipped them to the final place in the competition by two points.
