Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watze insists Jadon Sancho has given no intension that he wants to leave and is confident the forward will still be at the club next season as nobody will be able to match their hefty valuation.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly identified Sancho as his top attacking target this summer and the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have also been linked with the 20-year-old winger.

However, Dortmund are demanding in excess of £100million for Sancho which could prove a stumbling block for interested teams given the financial uncertainty across world football caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has warned supporters that it may not be ‘business as usual’ for the club in the summer transfer window due to the economic repercussions of the crisis,

Asked about the speculation surrounding Sancho, Dortmund chief Watze told Sport1: ‘If Jadon comes up to us and says he absolutely wants to leave – which has not been the case so far – and a club wants to pay what we want, then we will discuss it.

‘I don’t think a club will pay the sum. There is also no coronavirus discount on him.

‘We have left the period where we had to sell players. I don’t think there will be a summer transfer.

‘We have a more unusual situation next year than usual. With the exception of Achraf Hakimi [who is moving to Inter Milan] the team will stay together. That helps with development.’

Solskjaer played down rumours suggesting that Sancho could be set for a switch to Old Trafford when asked about United’s chances of signing the England international last week.

‘I’m good at maths, but I can’t answer that question, Jan Aage,’ said during a chat with Viasport‘s Jan Age Fjortoft.

‘There are many good footballers on many teams.’

The Norwegian also urged United fans to lower their expectations about possible new arrivals ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

‘I think it’ll be a calm transfer window or a slightly different kind of window,’ he added.

‘I think a lot of clubs will have to be careful not to spend too much money.

‘You might still not know how much you’ve lost financially during this pandemic and what’s gone on lately.

‘We’re quite relaxed. I am very happy with the squad I have. I think it looks better and better.

‘And then there is something in front of us screaming that it’s sensible, both from a sporting and a financial perspective. So I know we’re going to try but you can’t make any promises.’
