History tends to repeat itself on Coronation Street – but this time we’re not talking about serial killers or wrongly jailed residents. Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) is about to make the staggering realisation that – wait for it – she and Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) are turning into Jack and Vera Duckworth.
While the Duckworths were legends, Fiz feels she and Tyrone are falling into a rut and getting old before their time – and when she finds herself nagging him after he is asleep in front of the TV in his vest, he is amused when she makes the comparison.
Deciding to make an effort, Tyrone suggests he cooks her dinner and they have a date night in the house and Fiz’s spirits are lifted. Later, Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) comes to Fiz for advice after Gemma Winter (Dolly Rose-Campbell) complains that they never talk anymore.
While for some, that would be a nice bit of peace and quiet, Gem and Ches clearly long to hear the sound of one another’s voices so Fiz shares Tyrone’s idea of a date night with Ches as a suggestion.
Chesney is inspired and he goes home to tell Gemma to get dressed up. But as they boldly head out, Tyrone is just serving up his home cooked steak for Fiz when there’s a knock on the door.
Well, would you believe, Ches thought that Fiz had invited them over to dinner? You couldn’t make it up lads. Well you could and Corrie have.
As Gemma and Chesney skulk away sadly and steak free, Fiz takes pity on them and invites them in to share in their plunder.
But will this date turned dinner party end in the right way for the couples? Oh and for those wondering where the quads are, Paul (Peter Ash) has it all under control.Follow us:
