What’s he going to do next? (Picture: BBC)

They say that eavesdroppers never hear any good of themselves, and this is true for Cameron (Nic Jackman) in tonight’s Holby City. He starts the day fairly confident – he has a performance review due, and surely anyone can see how good he is?

But when he sees his name on a piece of paper he can’t resist having a look – and he’s not happy with what he reads. And you will not believe what he does next, as he takes matters into his own hands to prove that he’s got what it takes. Is there no end to how far Cameron will go?

Nicky (Belinda Owusu) also has a performance review, but she’s got other things on her mind – like trying to find a way to save her Auntie Brenda (Lynn Hunter) from either certain death or super-risky surgery.

She thinks she’s found something – but has to convince Jac Naylor (Rosie Marcel) about it first. Then Nicky’s mum, Tracey (Cathy Murphy), returns to pile on the pressure and Nicky’s day goes from bad to much worse

It’s a worrying day for Essie (Kaye Wragg), as she has a meeting with her consultant. Will it be good news or bad?

As she deals with her feelings, everyone else is focused on Fletch (Alex Walkinshaw)’s recovery, which seems to be going well – until he suddenly deteriorates and once again his life hangs in the balance.

With Max (Jo Martin) forced to terminate the Kestrel contract after discovering they have a history of shoddy work, the spotlight turns to her role as CEO of the hospital.

The pressure’s on her to take the blame and resign, snd she’s visited by a furious Guy Self (John Michie), whose Kestrel shares are now worth a lot less than they were. But at least she has Louis (Tyler Luke Cunningham) on her side…
