Hollyoaks star Chelsee Healey has shared her agony after she was sent vile racist abuse about her two-year-old daughter Coco in a private message.
The former Waterloo Road and Casualty actress, best know for playing Goldie McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, shared a screenshot of the horrific message on Twitter and one of her followers said she was sorry that her children have to grow up in such a ‘disgusting’ digital world.
Chelsee went on to say that she often gets racist abuse sent to her about herself but added than when her daughter is the target, it really hurts.
The disgusting message – which referred to Coco as a ‘black monkey’ – was sent to Chelsee after she shared posts about the Black Lives Matter movement, which has led to protests in the wake of the murder of George Floyd.
Sharing the troll’s nasty message, Chelsey wrote: ‘You know what, I get nasty messages all day mostly about me!” the former Strictly Come Dancing runner-up wrote.
‘I’m a big girl, I can handle that, but saying something so disgusting about my beautiful, innocent baby upsets me especially when there’s nothing you can do to protect them from people’s vile words.’
Chelsey, who split from Coco’s dad Jack Malloy after a turbulent on/off relationship, recently shared her joy at being a mother, saying: ‘All I want to do is be the best mum that I can be to Coco.
‘Since having her my priorities have completely changed and of course you want to set the best example that you can.
‘She was a surprise baby but I was definitely ready for motherhood. When it happened it just felt right. I’d got my partying days out of my system and everything I do now is about her, it’s not about me.
‘I’m really excited about Mother’s Day. Coco is nearly eight months old, and I know she doesn’t realise what it all means but I’ve planned a special day out with my mum, sister and niece which will be a lovely way to celebrate.’
Fans have been sharing their horror at the vile abuse received by Chelsee and praised her for speaking out.Follow us:
