Manchester City are considering a move for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish if Leroy Sane leaves for Bayern Munich over the summer.

Grealish is expected to leave Villa this summer and has long been linked with a move to Manchester United, but their local rivals are planning to hijack the transfer.

Any bid for Grealish depends on the future of Sane, who is expected to leave the Premier League and sign for Bayern Munich, but only if the Bavarians meet City’s asking price of £50m.

The German winger is out of contract in 2021 and Bayern are trying to get him for just £35m this summer, but City are holding out for what they see as a fair price for the 24 year old.

If Bayern do stump up the cash and Sane returns to Germany then Manchester City will turn to Grealish, reports the Telegraph, who is likely to cost more as Villa are looking for £80m for their star performer.

Whether the Villains can negotiate such a fee will depend on if they stay in the Premier League or not, with their bargaining power reduced somewhat if they are relegated to the Championship.

If they survive or not, Grealish is expected to move on, with reports suggesting he has already found a new house in Manchester.

That house-hunting was thought to be in preparation for a move to Old Trafford, but Pep Guardiola could still tempt him to the Etihad instead, where he could create a tantalising all-English midfield trio alongside Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden.

Guardiola is reportedly a fan of Grealish’s ability to perform across the midfield and in more forward positions, while he provides a goal and assist threat from deep or more advanced roles.
